I was going to say I thought this post by

coffeeandink was one of the best I'd read about Dr. Horrible, but then this one by

hth_the_first showed up on my flist and it's even better (it's got some good points about Batman, too).

In other news, we got a flyer yesterday saying they were going to be doing work on our street for ten days starting on Monday...and then they started today. FUN.

Also I had a bacon and cucumber sandwich for lunch. It was very tasty.

I just watched episode two of Dr. Horrible and it is the best thing ever! Don't get me wrong, it has its problems. The main cast consists of three people, all of whom are white, and all the minor parts are played by white people, so it kind of fails on the diversity front. And of the three main characters, the girl is pretty much just the prize the two guys fight over. But. But. It's so, so funny! And the songs are really good and catchy. I would totally buy a soundtrack if they put one out.

I also really love the format. I'm not a TV person. I don't really want seven seasons of some epic show. Three 13-minute installments is right up my alley, though.

For now, I leave you with a quote:

In other news, we went to the Promenade tonight so I could spend my $20 Barnes & Noble gift card. I really wish it had been for Best Buy or somewhere, because I really hate buying books new. I got a hardcover and it was $27 total. ;_; Even if I had bought two regular sized paperbacks, it would have been almost $20, and most of the books I wanted were in trade paperback anyway, which is like $15.

I got The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, which I'd been wanting to read for a while. I wish I had thought to write down the books I wanted, because of course once I got to the store I couldn't remember anything. I only found this by chance, as they happened to have a copy face out.

We also went to Fatburger and I tried their Maui Banana Shake, which was omg so good.

Um, I have apparently been sucked into the madness that is Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

I had no plans to watch it. I am not a particular fan of Joss Whedon, having never watched Buffy or Angel or Firefly (well, like two episodes of Angel). I am not particularly interested in Nathan Fillion or Neil Patrick Harris.

But it was all over my flist. Every other post, it seems, was linking to it and talking about how awesome it was, and so I caved.

The verdict?

Pretty damn awesome.

It's hilarious and I can't wait for part two tomorrow (and part three on Saturday, apparently). I am considering buying the DVD when it's released. If you are one of the few on my flist who hasn't been posting about it, go watch! It's a musical! About a super villain! Who is not very super! And a really obnoxious hero who is his nemesis! It's only thirteen minutes long and is streamed on the site. Give it a try!
