So, as I said the other day, I really liked it! Like, really, really liked it.

While I don't hate the prequels the way many do, they never really clicked with me, either. We went to see The Phantom Menace on opening night and it was okay, but I couldn't really get excited about it. I never even saw Attack of the Clones in the theatre, just once on DVD. And while I saw and enjoyed Revenge of the Sith in the theatre, I don't really remember much about it.

I saw Return of the Jedi in the theatre as a kid. I think I saw the original Star Wars on TV before that, because I definitely knew what Star Wars was and was excited about it, but I don't even know if I had seen The Empire Strikes Back or not. It didn't matter. I loved Return of the Jedi so much, and when I came out of that theatre, all I could think about was how much I wanted to know Anakin Skywalker's backstory. So you'd think the prequels would have been perfect. It's what I'd been waiting for for all those years. But I was eh on it and all this time I've written it off as the originals being tinged with nostalgia and a little kid's excitement and probably nothing I saw as an adult could compare to that.

But The Force Awakens actually did! I went into it almost completely unspoiled. I had seen a trailer and some merchandising. I knew there was a girl and a guy who was a Storm Trooper and a robot and that was pretty much it. (This didn't take any great effort on my part, by the way. I mean, I was tempted to click on cut tags when people on my flist saw the movie on opening night or the first couple days, but it was really, really easy to not stumble upon any spoilers just going about my normal routine during the time leading up to the film. I didn't change any of my online behavior at all. I'm kind of surprised, really! But also really, really glad, because there was some stuff I'm super glad to have been unspoiled about.)

Anyway! Spoilery stuff! )

Anyway, it was just really fun. If I weren't so busy with work the next week and a half I would definitely go see it again right away. As it is, I will probably go again sometime in January. I don't know that I've ever seen a movie in the theatre more than once, so for me that's really saying a lot that I even want to do that.
