Fic reviews: Yuletide 2011 part 1
Dec. 29th, 2011 09:29 pmI was lazy and used the AO3 rec formatting, which I don't particularly like and also makes every entry way long (also I quoted a lot!), so they're going behind a cut. So far I've really only read by recs, so these have probably been mentioned quite a bit already, but whatevs. I enjoyed them!
( Discworld, Michael Fassbender with Pugs Tumblr, TV Commercials, Parks & Rec, Hark! A Vagrant, and Anne of Green Gables )

Fic reviews: lgbtfest '09
Apr. 30th, 2009 04:08 amFirst batch of
lgbtfest fics for this year! So far only one that I really, really loved, but I (obviously) haven't read much yet, either.
What a Man's Gotta Do by
sto_helit_lace 2/5
Dr. Horrible. 4600 words. Everyone's got villains they must face. Captain Hammer has never thought this particular villain was very cool at all.
( I don't know who this person is, but it's not Captain Hammer. )
Modern Love by
penknife 5/5 Recommended
Discworld. 2900 words. It's amazing how the world rarely gets less complicated.
( Totally my personal canon now. )
Sacrifices by
elementalv 3/5
Stargate: Atlantis. 2600 words. John has always been willing to pay the price for his career and to keep his people safe, but he's just found the one price he's not sure he can afford.
( Surprisingly good considering how clueless the prompt was. )
Turn the Page by
messageredacted 3/5
Supernatural. 9000 words. Sam hasn't seen his sister in four years. A lot more has changed than he ever imagined.
( I would have liked this a lot more if it hadn't been wincest. )
Now You're a Man by
cho_malfoy 3/5
Supernatural. 5300 words. Dean completed a journey in the body he was born with, but just because he's started a new journey doesn't mean he's likely to forget the last one.
( Enjoyable, but I wasn't really loving it. )

Fic reviews: lgbtfest '08
Apr. 20th, 2009 03:40 amHrr, so. I had this last batch of
lgbtfest fics from last year that I never read. XD And now the fest is running again, so I figured I'd better get these out of the way first before I start on the new ones. ^_^;;
Four Years Later by
ria_oaks 2/5
Supernatural. 4800 words. Retelling of the pilot, but the reason Sam left home was because he's gay.
( Needs editing. )
The Braid by
pandore27 2/5
Star Wars. 5400 words. Dormé loves Amidala. Amidala loves politics. That's the problem.
( Not really my style, but not horrible. )
Fantastica by
pandore27 2/5
Star Wars. 2200 words. Everything feels the same, and yet everything's changed.
( I'm not sure why this is even labelled fanfic... )
A Remote Aspect by
lilfluffykitten 2/5
Dracula. 1600 words. Jonathan finds his enforced loneliness leads him to some uncomfortable realisations.
( Fits the tone of the novel well, but I just wasn't feeling it. )
Marching Orders by
bwinter 3/5
Discworld. 2900 words. Polly's next war, and Maladicta.
( Cute, though I think I would probably have enjoyed it more if I could actually remember much from Monstrous Regiment... )
How Stephen Colbert Proved Jon Stewart Is a Lady by
sarken 4/5 Recommended
Colbert Report. 4900 words. Stephen is a straight man. Stephen is attracted to Jon. Therefore, it logically follows that Jon must be a woman.
( Hilarious. )
