shut up and let me see your jazz hands

So the game I just finished translating is about five girls: Dez, Phoebe, Alice, Eileen, and Katie. As you might guess from the names, it's not a Japanese setting; instead it's a vaguely European fantasy setting. There are five parts to the game, one for each girl. The scary part is that, according to the website, each part costs 2000-ish yen each. They sort of stand alone, but you only get the full story if you play all of them.

And now I'm off to the hardware store because Ikea is cheap-ass and did not include screws with these blinds. Plus they are rough wood and splintery and need to be sanded. Gah!

I really need to write up summaries of the game scripts I've been translating.

The one I'm working on right now is about a young guy, just starting his first year as a teacher (at an all-girls' school, natch). When he calls his dad to tell him the good news about getting a job, his dad reminds him that according to the tradition of his village, he has to get married on the first day of his new job to a cousin he's been engaged to since childhood. The guy's not keen, but he can't talk his dad out of it. So it's with a heavy heart that he starts his first day of teaching, but his big shock comes when he finds out that his wife is in his homeroom class!

He moves in with her and her mom (her dad is conveniently dead) and while he gets along well with his mother-in-law, his wife seems to hate him from the get go. All sorts of typical misunderstandings happen to make it worse, such as accidentally walking in on her in the bath, and soon enough all she does is either ignore him or call him names.

After a while, he confides in his mother-in-law, who comes up with the perfect solution. You see, the problem is that he's inexperienced and lacks the self-confidence to win over his wife. So, like any good mother who only wants what's best for her daughter, she decides to teach him about sex and women to build his confidence.

I've skimmed ahead some and I'm pretty sure it turns into a threesome after a while, but then at the end, once husband and wife finally confess their feelings for each other and are lovey-dovey, the mom decides to leave them to their newlywed bliss and travel around the world. (I'm not sure what happens to the fact that she's the superintendent of the school, but I guess her job is flexible like that.)
