1. The saga of the trash pickup continues. Once again we did not have any trash pickup since last Friday (this time they actually did come Monday but the truck's tines were the wrong size for our dumpster so it physically couldn't pick it up), but they finally came today and emptied it! Of course we had so much trash in back that it was full again immediately (with some that wouldn't even fit) and they're not coming again until Friday (if they even manage to get their shit together), but at least they did pick up one time... (This transition period between the old company and new company will apparently not be completed until the end of the month, so I'm just going to expect weekly fuckups until then and not get my hopes up.)

2. Pretty hectic day at work today, but I managed to get out of there at a fairly decent time.

3. Day off tomorrow! I had been planning to go to a farewell dinner for someone in the company who is transferring to the new Singapore division, but I think I'm going to skip that. (It's not someone I'm really close to, and I'd have to spend longer than the dinner will take to drive down there in rush hour traffic, and I'm just tired and want to rest on my day off.)

4. Got a cute pic of me and Jasper!

What are you currently reading?
No progress at all on The New Jim Crow or The Library at Mount Char, as I was focused on finishing my library book before it's due.

I also started a new book, A Chance Child by Jill Paton Walsh. [personal profile] rachelmanija recently reviewed another book by the author and it made me remember that I'd picked this up a few years ago, meaning to reread it, and hadn't gotten around to it yet. I read this as a kid and it's one of those books that always stuck with me because it was so weird, but all I remembered was a boy going down a river, something to do with locks (of the river variety), and going back in time. I finally found it again thanks to a post in a book-finding post, so I'm curious to see if it's still as weird as it seemed when I was a kid or if it makes more sense now. From the first three chapters, so far I'm on the side of "yeah, still weird and confusing".

What did you recently finish reading?
I finished up Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock's Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout today. I like a couple songs by Against Me! but otherwise am not at all familiar with them or their music, so this was interesting not just to read about the author's journey to coming out as trans, but also to learn about the band. I really enjoyed it.

I also read volumes 25, 26, and 27 of Kimi ni Todoke. I see on Amazon that volume 29 is coming out in July, but I wonder how many more volumes there will be after that. It seems like it's going to be wrapping up pretty soon.

Vague spoilers )

What do you think you'll read next?
I have one more volume of Kimi ni Todoke, and then idk.
