Last weekend went out to see RotK with Stan and DeeDee and Bruce. It was good, I thought. I'm not really a huge fanatic over it, so I can't think of that much to say, but I liked the opening with Smeagol and Deagol a lot and loved the way they showed him morphing into Gollum. Will now be content to wait until the EE comes out to see it again.
During the week I watched several films while over babysitting Miles. On Wednesday I watched Lost in Translation. Really, really loved it. Brought it home for Bruce to watch on Friday and he loved it, too, which is amazing considering he hardly ever likes any movies. I liked Scarlett Johanson in Ghost World and liked her even more in this. She's really cute. It was definitely an interesting film. Not a lot of dialogue, but really managed to make you feel their isolation. Also I think they did a good job of showing how different Japan is without resorting to parody.
Thursday I saw School of Rock. The kid who plays the drums reminds me of Tom Felton. Anyway, it was very cute. Typical feel good sort of thing. I like Jack Black well enough, though it's frightening how much he looks and acts like Bruce's friend Doug (though thankfully he doesn't have Doug's long, wavy 80s rock star hair...yeah, imagine Jack Black with hair like that. That's Doug. *shudder*). Not something I'm probably ever going to see again, but it wasn't a waste of time.
Friday I saw Shattered Glass. Now that was a really great film. I'm not a big fan of Hayden Christensen, not at all, but he was really good. I remember hearing about the scandal when it happened, but hadn't really thought about it since. Anyway, that's one I very highly recommend.
I'm currently reading Ian McEwan's Atonement. I'm almost finished (will probably finish this afternoon while babysitting), but so far it's been just amazing. It was a little slow getting in to, but after the first couple of chapters I was really hooked. I want to smack Briony, though, really. She's so dense, but I suppose that's the point.
Finished reading Diary.
( Here there be spoilers. )Am listening to Kylie's Body Language album. Am quite liking it. Yay, Kylie! Um...haven't listened to it enough to know the tracks, and I had it set on random, so it wasn't playing them in order, but I really liked Red Blooded Woman and Still Standing.
Also just got two Belle & Sebastian concert rips. One is a Christmas concert and one is...something more recent, I think. Bruce still has it on his hard drive, so I haven't even heard it yet.
_wizzard_, do you want copies?
In fandom news, I just finished a really interesting experiment that I set myself to. Two parallel stories (I know there was a challenge like this once on CLM and I thought it interesting, but at the time didn't have a bunny) that were somewhat inspired by Theatrical Muse, comparing and contrasting Est!Ewan with Chiaroscuro!Ewan. I'm extremely pleased with how they turned out and I think I'm going to do commentary on them. Also, since Helens and Ruth asked, I'm going to do commentary on the most recent young!Judewan fic (and hopefully Dee will add her comments as well). Also want to do something VC, but haven't decided what. I could do commentary on Don't Stand, and point out how much it makes me cringe. :p
