I've just started Takanashi Mitsuba's Crimson Hero, a shoujo manga about girls' volleyball. I enjoyed her previous series, Akuma de Sourou (though I never finished it and have it on my list to reread & finish at some point), and played high school volleyball myself, so it seemed like something I'd like. I've just read the first volume (of twenty), but I'm enjoying it so far!
What did you recently finish reading?
Well, as should come as no surprise to anyone who's read my past couple reading posts, I finished reading several more volumes of Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo. Volume ten wrapped up a case and also happened to be the last one I'd loaded up on my ipod, so it was easier to stop than last time.
One thing that's interesting about rereading these old cases is noting the things that current technology make impossible. For example, these are the sort of mysteries where a group of people is isolated and then people start dying, and a big part of that isolation is not being able to call the cops. The killer cuts the phone lines, etc. But now everyone has cell phones, so you can't just fall back on that. IIRC one of the recent cases had them in a village in the middle of nowhere that didn't get cell phone reception, so of course there's always a work-around, but it's interesting to note.
What do you think you'll read next?
I did load another five volumes of Kindaichi on my ipod, but I'm trying to go for more variety, so I also put a couple Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei, some more of Crimson Hero, and the first arc of Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. Oh, and the first two volumes of Ookiku Furikabutte.
I also have books and fic on there, of course, but I seem to be in a manga mood, so I'm not going to force myself to read other stuff if I'm not feeling it.
