1. Wednesdays are usually a day where I work a full eight hours but only have about half that time to do any sort of work at my desk. The second half of my day is taken up with putting up the signs for the new week's sale and taking down the old ones. But because of the holidays, the sale that started last Thursday is running til the 31st, so I actually had the whole day to work today! That was nice. (The downside is that there is a two-day sale on the 1st and 2nd to bridge the gap between the end of this sale and getting the next sale back on the correct day of the week, so I will have to put up signs on Monday night as well as next Wednesday. Boo.)

2. My shower's been clogging up really badly lately, and a couple times I didn't realise that the water hadn't completely gone down from the time I last took a shower, so I had to shower while standing in several inches of cold, scummy water. DDD: This is not something I recommend. Anyway, yesterday it was so bad that I actually had to get a bucket and scoop out as much water as possible into the sink and toilet and then use some drain cleaner (I didn't want to do it while it was still full in case it didn't help and then I had a tub full of water with drain cleaner mixed in). That at least got rid of the last of the water in the tub and made it so I could take a shower tonight without standing in old water (just the new water that accumulated as I showered). But then after my shower, I put in another thing of cleaner and that seemed to finally really start getting to the clog. It still backs up a fair bit while water is running, but drains quickly afterwards. And I just put another bottle down there right now, so hopefully it will be even better. (The one I used yesterday was real Drano, but a lot of times I use these cheap ones from the 99 Cent Store and I am never sure of the quality. But at least they're only a dollar, so if I have to use several (like tonight), it's still not a huge investment...)

3. There are still lots of goodies at work. Today there was cake and cream puffs (not Beard Papa, just the ones we sell in the freezer section, but still tasty, especially when they're free).

4. I stopped at the bank on the way home to deposit my Christmas checks and that one from the survey website and when I first got there it looked like there weren't any envelopes for the night deposit, so I thought I was going to have to come back again, but I stuck my hand up the dispenser and there were some that were just stuck higher up in there, so I was able to make my deposit. Woohoo! (I can't even remember the last time I deposited a check? Oh, apparently it was my birthday in June. XD I have direct deposit for my paycheck...)

5. I've been feeling like I have no time to read Yuletide fics (I opened one, but that's as far as I've gotten yet), but then remembered that last year I read so many because I put them on my ipod, so I think I'm going to download a bunch before going to bed and read them on my lunch tomorrow. :)

Re: shower, eeew. The fine folks at Unfuck Your Habitat recommend getting a Zip-it from a hardware store to catch and clean out whatever ancient hair and other detritus is making itself at home in the shower drain. They also recommend good ventilation and/or a face mask to help you deal with the inevitable evil stench of That Which Inhabits Shower Drains when it finally emerges into the light. A small plunger (that either hasn't been used in the toilet or has been thoroughly disinfected) can also help move clogs along through the pipes. They're also fond of drain volcanoes (baking soda + white vinegar + tub or sink drain = science-y fun!) for cleaning out gunk and improving smells emanating from the drain.

Good luck!

I tried a wire hanger the other night and it didn't come back with even a single strand of hair on the end, so I think the clog is too far in. :(

I'm definitely thinking of buying a second plunger for situations like that, though. I wanted to try plunging the other day when it was refusing to move, but didn't want to use the toilet one.
