I was gathering all these icon meme responses so I could post about them all at once, and then I forgot about it. XD

Since I asked a ton of people to ask me about icons and they ended up picking a lot of the same ones, I'm just going to talk about the icons all together, rather than separate them by who asked about what, since then I have a whole bunch where I just say "see above". :p


I made this aaaaaages ago for something Fandom Wank related, I think. Oh hey, there's even a small entry on the FW wiki. And a link to the original comic. I no longer read FW or Penny Arcade, but I will always love this icon.


Sakaki is one of my favorite Azumanga Daioh characters. Poor Sakaki. She loves cats! They hate her! But here she is with her cute wild kitten who tracked her from Okinawa. This is a panel from the manga that I colored myself. The Japanese text says "I love cats".


Takatsuki-kun and Nitorin from Hourou Musuko. I like to use this on trans-related posts (they're both trans, for those unfamiliar with the series), but also just on anything happy because they're so cute and smiling. :D I got lazy on this one and instead of actually coloring it, just made the background blue. (I don't like having black and white icons and always want some color, which is why any manga icons I have are usually ones I colored myself.)


This is another really old one. Waaaaay back in the day, there were some wanky fans of Dominic Monaghan and Elijah Wood who believed they were secretly dating and the LotR PR folks were forcing them to keep their love a secret. And there was a whole Fandom Wank spinoff community to post about these fans! And maybe that's not totally relevant info, except that it is probably where this came from? Anyway, at one point someone somewhere found some personal photos of a BBQ at Elijah's house (?) and some people were like "omg this is private, we shouldn't look!" And yeah, it's true that they weren't meant for public consumption, but they were also really innocuous photos that you take of your friends at parties. People with beer and food and stuff. It's not like they were doing something the public shouldn't see, and it's not like they were taken by stalkerazzi (they were taken by someone at the party and posted online). So cesare made some funny graphics with stuff like "he's eating corn! he needs his privacy!" on them, and I made an icon out of one. I generally use it for LotRiPS related posts, which I don't have many of these days, but it's such a fun icon I like to keep it around.


After some sort of racefail or something I really wanted to make an icon like this where someone's underpants were showing and the text "oops, your privilege is showing". And then I remembered these paintings by this guy who did all these upskirt poses with women and vegetables and it just seemed perfect.


It's Maru! I just took the text from the original post, which was "fumufumu", which is the same as like "hmm hmm". It's a good "I see..." type of icon, but also just a good general one, because Maru is always appropriate.


This is Mr Stabby. He's from the same site as Weebl and Bob and I'm too lazy to look up the URL. Anyway, it's a good icon for when you want to stabinate people.


Sinfest! Like with manga, I color all my Sinfest icons, though this one just got a gradient background. "It's like a blast of happy in my ass" is the original text and it just seemed so appropriate. It's good for happy posts.


It's Jude Law! He was a victim of the '80s. If you could see the rest of the photo, you'd see that he was also wearing loafers and rolled up jeans. I don't really have much of a use for the icon, but it's wee!Jude, so it's hard to part with.


It's Brandon Flowers of The Killers looking pretty, with the text from When You Were Young on it. I don't use it much.


I think Gabby Sidibe is super cute, but I chose this photo to icon because I just love that look she's giving. It comes in handy when commenting on failtastic stuff.


It's more wee!Jude Law! Did you know he was actually in Sherlock Holmes as a teenager? He played a stableboy or something in an episode of the BBC version. He's looking pouty because he's going to be dressed up as a girl for some reason. XD


It's Pepper Pots drawn by pentapus. One of the few icons I didn't make myself. I grabbed this after watching Iron Man, but haven't really ever used it much.


It's the devil girls from Sinfest. This is a good "cheering you on" type icon. This came from one of the Sunday full color strips, so I actually didn't have to color it myself.


Another one I didn't make myself. It's by sofiaviolet (who put the text on the icons) & green (who animated them). I love the "ALL the things" meme and this seemed like it would come in handy for linkspams and stuff, but then I really haven't had time to post any linkspams in a long time, so.


Bad Machinery is a webcomic I started reading and then got bored with, but I really liked this one bit where these two girls are talking about moth balls and what they are and where they come from (consensus: they are the balls of moths), and this girl says "oh, the mysteries of the moth farm".


I wanted a Digimon icon out of nostalgia and happened to see a link to some icons schattenstern made, so I just grabbed Palmon here, as she was always one of my favorites.


It's Scott Pilgrim all frowny and big-eyed and cute. XD This is another one I colored in. It makes a good pouty icon, but I also just tend to use it for general random stuff.


Arale as a penguin is the awesomest. She's just so cute! I love penguins and I love Dr Slump, so this is a great combination. It's a good happy icon.


Shuuji and Akira from Nobuta. wo Produce. It says amigo because of the theme song, Seishun no Amigo. Mainly I made it because I really like Yamapi and I wanted icons of him. I don't really use it much, though.


Everyone is fond of owls! I made a ton of icons of this back in the day and love them all, but I like the simplicity of this one.


This is my default icon and you're probably all sick of seeing it. I used to vary my icons so much when I first started using LJ, but now I am just lazy and rarely change it for posts and even more rarely for comments. :-/ I love icons in theory, but the laziness always wins out! Anyway, this is just me made with a Scott Pilgrim style icon maker.


This is another Fandom Wank one and omg it's so old. I'm pretty sure the quote is from backfromspace, but I can't remember the context, just that it took me forever to find images to make the icon. Probably one of the most labor intensive icons I've ever made! And yet I pretty much never use it.


Yotsuba making a D: face with the text "gaaan" (the sound of disappointment) comes in handy fairly often, so this one gets more use than a lot of others. It's another one I colored myself.


I have no use for this silly icon, but I love it so. An old Weezer song has a line that goes "you take your car to work, I'll take my board" and it really kind of sounds like they're saying "you take Picard to work, I'll take the borg". And so an icon was born.


I actually just dug this one up recently. When I thought about doing this meme, I realised I didn't have that many icons on DW (well, I had quite a few, but not a ton), so I went through my old icons on my HD to see if there were any I wanted to upload, and I found a bunch I'd made years and years ago of Hakuei, the vocalist from Penicillin, and he's really pretty, so I wanted to upload at least one, and decided this might be one I'd actually get some use out of.


Ronon! Or Jason Momoa! I can't remember if this is a screen cap (maybe from the ep where he goes to John's dad's funeral?) or just a random picture of Jason, but either way he's cute and I love when he smiles and I should use it more often.


Another one I just recently uploaded, but I have actually been finding it quite useful for offering people sympathy. I didn't have a *hugs* type icon before, but now I do. Also I love anything with devil boy.


There are so many great iconable panels from Garfield Without Garfield, but then I make them and they just sit around. Sometimes things are boring even with hats, though.
