Fic reviews: Harry Potter
What's this, I actually have some reviews? I've been trying to read some fic every day, but one of them (which was SGA, so it's actually in another batch) was super long and ended up taking me weeks to read, so I still feel like I haven't read much fic. :p
Three Women Who Never Brushed Hermione's Hair by

300 words. Habits learned in youth can't be untangled.
Written for the "women and their hair" fest. I really liked this one. I can definitely see Hermione having a troubled relationship with her hair and each of these feels like it fits into canon perfectly. (I especially like the last one.)

1800 words. Luna always considered the lack of imagination in the wizarding world to be one of many reasons Thomas Riddle was able to do all he had done. (She hated the so-smug anagram he made. Not that anagrams weren't neat, just that self-proclaimed honors were, well, premature at best, and if he really wanted to get rid of his muggle name, wouldn't he just call himself something else that didn't include it?)
This is cute and very, very Luna. I dithered over whether to give it a three or a four, because the shippiness of the ending really feels rather tacked on (I actually thought it was going to be Luna/Ginny from the way things were going, so the sudden turn into Ginny/Neville, Luna/Harry land felt odd). In the end, I don't think I liked it quite enough to rec, but I did enjoy it.
An Unequal Magic by

11,000 words. When Petunia grudgingly offers Snape sanctuary, the pair discover that they have certain things in common.
This is one of those stories I would have liked so much more if I'd read it when it was posted. While the jossing didn't ruin it for me, I definitely enjoyed it less than I know I would have before book 7. It's well-written and I do love Petunia here, though, and I love this version of her history. I just really, really like canon, too, and couldn't help wishing this reflected the revelations of book 7 (although obviously it would have to be an AU where Snape lives, but so long as his history with Petunia and Lily is preserved, that's all I ask).

6300 words. The Wizarding World has forgiven Snape, but Snape hasn't forgiven the Wizarding World. And gardening.
This is...sweet. And cute. And I think that's the problem, because I really need a lot of convincing on this pairing (well, let's be honest, any Snape pairing) and this just doesn't give me what I need. Though honestly, I'm not sure how well it would work even with a couple I was primed for, because I just found the plot really vague. Snape and Remus hardly had any screen time together and yet they ended up falling in love? I liked snarky Snape terrorising the students and living a grumpy life with his garden, though. Cut out the romance and I would have enjoyed it a lot more, I think.

Think I might have to break down and read some HP. All of these sound worth taking a peek at.
