Meh

I got my first asshole on BookMooch. So far everyone has seemed pretty laid back and patient; after all, we're doing people a favor by sending them books (and yes, we might get a favor in return, but then again, we might not). I got a request Wednesday for a book, and knowing that Bruce would have the car Thursday and Friday, and that I didn't want to drive all the way to the inconvenient post office that's the only one open on Saturday, I accepted his request and said I would mail it on Monday (then it turned out Bruce would be needing the car Monday, too, yet I still plan to go and just walk to the post office, because I promised).

Today I got a reminder. On Sunday. When the post office isn't even open and when I specifically told him I would not be able to get to the post office until tomorrow. I'm half tempted to cancel his request altogether, but I won't. Still. Ugh.

That sucks! I usually don't send a reminder until a couple weeks have passed.

I really hate it when people lose interest in BookMooch and just don't delete or put their account on vacation. Once, a book I had requested was pending for almost a year (they'd accepted it when I first requested it) until I finally cancelled it (yeah, should have done it earlier...).

Yeah, I have one request right now that's been listed as "requested" for over two weeks. I'll probably give it a little longer, then send a reminder to see if they're actually there, and if not, cancel it.

I don't think you want to hear about some really nasty behaviour, anything from right out fraud to abusive emails and theft, but maybe it helps to know that the "remind" button automatically mails when you click instead of any of the others that always let you go to a window where you can type a message, ie. I had once wanted to add something to someone and had also used that button. Not that it was any use, since it's months overdue, but I couldn't shut up and had to say that that does not seem asshole behaviour at all. Unlike what most others who have no bio and just scrounge do.

I'm sure there are people who are even more assholish. Of course they are. But unless they just clicked by accident, I don't see how sending me a remind email on a day when there is no mail and when I specifically said I would mail it on Monday is not assholish. He's getting a book for free! He should be patient, especially since he only requested the book a couple days ago.
