torachan: a happy cartoon guy with the text "it's like a blast of happy up my ass" (blast of happy in my ass)
1. Busy day, but I got everything done that urgently needed to be done, so tomorrow I can just enjoy my day off!

2. Next Tuesday I have another concert to go to but also the big giant yearly evaluation meeting where all the store managers have to give their pitches to the president for people's raises was moved to that day, so I was worried I might not get out in time, but today there was an email that made it sound like we could go home after our store was done, so I double checked and they confirmed it, and my store is one of the first ones in the morning, so not only will I have plenty of time for the concert, but I can do the ordering and stuff I usually do Wednesday, and then not have to go in on Thursday (which I thought I might have to do because I have a doctor's appointment Wednesday in Irvine and it's also Carla's birthday so I was planning on taking the day off so we could go to lunch at one of her favorite restaurants that's down by the doctor's office). So I'm pretty happy about all that. (And just in general happy about not having to sit through a day-long meeting.)

3. I played some more Zelda tonight. I keep meaning to play at least a little every day, but somehow there never seems to be time. I need to work on just playing a little bit at a time, but I always feel like if I'm going to play, I want to play a lot, and then end up not doing it at all. But tonight I went up the cliffs outside of Zora's domain to get the shock arrows and a photo of the Lynel (and maybe try and fight him, but he blasted me while I was taking a photo so I just ran, lol). And then I ended up going to a nearby shrine instead and then from there to a great fairy fountain, so I got my clothes upgraded a bit (though I'm missing some ingredients). Then I went down south and opened up the Lake Tower (I plan on catching some fish in Hyrule Lake while I'm there, since that's what I need to upgrade my Zora gear). Tomorrow I probably will attempt the first divine beast, though.

4. Today is Chloe and Molly's birthday and they're a big grown up two years old! (And Jasper is five months! When did these kitties get so big!?)

torachan: karkat from homestuck headdesking (karkat headdesk)
1. All the people who were out sick last week seem to be back in shape now, and no one called out today.

2. The Panic concert was so good! I had a blast and will write it up in more detail tomorrow.

3. I love the look on Jasper's face here!

torachan: (Default)
1. Our microwave has been doing a slow fade for...over a year, I think, and finally just dropped dead today. I'm wishing we'd replaced it before it totally died, because then we wouldn't be stuck without one in the meantime, but that's not what we did so we are. We went to a few stores today but the only one that had much of a selection was Best Buy and they were all pricier than I wanted to pay, so I ended up getting one off Amazon, which won't arrive until Thursday. Thankfully we're not really heavy microwave users, so it won't be too much of a hardship to go without one for a couple days.

2. I'm going to see Panic at the Disco tomorrow!

3. I finished reading another book, which makes 17 so far. That's more than I managed to read all last year, so I'm pretty happy about that.

4. I got so many cute kitty pics today! That'll keep me going for days.

torachan: my glitch character (glitch)
1. It's been an exhausting few days with so many people out sick, but finally tomorrow is my day off and I can relax and just stay home and do whatever I want.

2. I hired three new people this weekend. The next few weeks are going to be really busy with training them but hopefully they will work out and it will make things easier overall.

3. Recently we've been catching up on Fresh Off the Boat. This season has been so great. I really hope it gets renewed for a fourth season.

4. Look at Molly trying to hide her cutie snoot!

torachan: aradia from homestuck (aradia)
1. I posted manga! A new series! (Because that's what I really need right now, a new project. Well, I'm justifying it by the fact that Himegoto just has four more chapters to go...except that I'm probably going to start up something else after Himegoto ends, too.)

2. Had leftover curry for dinner. So delicious. And so easy. I love how much leftovers one of those blocks of curry makes.

3. This is one silly Jasper.

torachan: (fulldrum)
Hey, guys! Well, I didn't mean to pick up a new series, but Butcher of Anima Regia (who you may remember from my collab on All Out!) asked me if I would be interested in translating this new series and the first chapter was so funny, I just had to say yes.

Summary: Hino is obsessed with playing sports in high school, but not because he loves sports (he doesn't), or is any good at them (he's really not). He's doing it because that's the way to get a girlfriend (or so he thinks). After getting kicked out of half his school's sports clubs, he's still convinced he just hasn't found the sport he's truly destined for. When he (literally) runs into Noborito Ayako, manager of the rubgy club, it's love at first sight (for him), but all she's looking for is another warm body for the struggling rugby club. Could this be the chance he's been waiting for?

Chapter 1: Encounter
torachan: a kitten looking out the window (chloe in window)
1. Today was a ridiculously hectic day. With inventory over, everyone ordered a lot for today's delivery...and then four people called in sick (plus one person who'd already asked for the day off), so we were super short-handed. D: But I think I managed to get all the most urgent things done, and hopefully tomorrow will be better.

2. Carla stopped at See's Candy while she was out doing errands this morning. :D

3. I'm still up pretty late, but I'm getting to bed earlier than yesterday at least.

4. Tall Chloe!

torachan: palmon smiling (palmon)
1. I slept in until about 1pm, so that was good. Unfortunately that seems to have pushed my late sleep schedule even further back, and it was already creeping further than I'd like. (Here it is 4am and I'm a bit tired but not like super sleepy, though I will at least get in bed after posting this, and see if that makes me sleepier.) However! The person who usually closes on Fridays is out tomorrow, so I have to stay till closing, which means I don't have to go in until noonish, and the same goes for Saturday and Sunday, and then I have Monday off and no morning plans, so even if my sleep schedule is terrible, I at least have the next four days in a row I can sleep in. :p

2. Carla happened to see (Japanese) curry on sale at the store today and bought some, so I made curry for dinner. It was delicious and now we have lots of leftovers as well, for easy meals.

3. I finished translating the first chapter of a new series I'm working on, and hopefully will have that ready to post within the next few days.

4. I played a bunch more Zelda tonight. Went back to the area just below the Great Plateau and picked up a couple shrines I'd missed, and that plus the one in Zora's Domain got me another upgrade. One of the shrines was by a stable I hadn't been to yet, and Hestu was there outside! So I was able to get another few inventory slots opened up, though I didn't have a ton of Korok seeds, and it seems that the fee goes up by one with each slot you add. I also found the Zora helm, and upgraded both it and the Zora armor. Now it's time to go get some shock arrows and a photo of a Lynel (and at least try to take him on, while I'm up there; I know I could just stealthily gather arrows and snap his photo and not actually kill him, but where's the fun in that).

5. Carla got some cute pictures of Jasper this morning.

torachan: (Default)
What are you currently reading?
I'm about halfway through Return from Witch Mountain and it's definitely improved from the disappointing impression I had based on the first chapter. The author does make an attempt to explain away the differences from the first book, and while I still find all the scientific terms for their powers and overuse of words like "energizing" to be annoying, I am enjoying the plot.

I've also been reading at least a little bit of Modern Romance every day and am a third of the way through. I like it a lot.

No progress on Mayor of Castro Street this week, though.

What did you recently finish reading?
Nothing... :( I've been busy with work, busy translating, and busy playing Zelda, so that doesn't leave much time for reading.

What do you think you'll read next?
I would definitely like to have finished another book by this time next week, so I'm going to concentrate on these three! Considering how short Witch Mountain is and what a fast read Modern Romance is, if I actually make time to read every day, I could finish both of them!
torachan: maru the cat sitting in a bucket (maru)
1. Welp, I was at work from noon until 4:30am, so basically I didn't get anything done today except work, but now inventory is done and we don't have to do it again until September!

2. Look at this Jasper! Such a big boy. He's just a few days shy of five months old now. :)

torachan: aradia from homestuck (aradia)
1. I posted more manga! I'm excited about that.

2. I had a ton of interviews today and I have a bunch more Friday and Saturday, so I didn't make any final decisions today, but I was really impressed with one guy and he seemed keen on the job, so I probably will hire him at least. (And he was one of the ones who answered the Craigslist ad, so that was definitely money well spent.)

3. I played some Zelda tonight and finally reached Zora's Domain! I also did like four shrines on the way, plus opened up Lanayru Tower. Oh, and killed a Hinox.

4. I get to sleep in tomorrow! The bad news is that the reason I get to sleep in is because I have to work until like 3:00am, so I'm going in around noon. But I'm still glad I get to sleep in, and also it means I won't be there for the morning delivery, which I hate.

5. Sleepy Chloe!

Chapter 15: A Woman Is a Woman

And here's a full volume download for those who want it.
torachan: (Default)
1. Our old HDMI switcher box stopped working a while ago, probably due to the cats knocking it off the TV table too many times. So that meant if I wanted to play Zelda on the TV, I had to unplug the Apple TV and plug it in directly (the second HDMI port on the TV is also not working, so we can't just have them both plugged in directly), which is a pain, so it kind of kept me from playing as much as I wanted to (though I was also busy with other stuff).

But I finally remembered to order a new one from Amazon and that came the other day, and today when we were at Target I got velcro sticky things to affix it to the TV stand so it doesn't get knocked over by cats (also got some for the Apple TV, which has also been knocked down many times but is apparently sturdier). So now we can have them both plugged in and easily switch between them (and the X-Box One, though that doesn't get much use)!

2. I played Zelda a bunch this afternoon! I haven't played for like a week, and between watching Carla and the Let's Play I've been following, I am now having a hard time remembering what's stuff that I've actually done and what I've just seen done. Doh. But I did do a lot today. I finally got Link's first memory! And did some small sidequests. And explored a bit more. I think tomorrow I'll head off to Zora's Domain (though I might take a long and winding route and stop at some shrines on the way).

3. I didn't get as much translating done as I'd hoped, but I did get some housework done.

4. I posted manga! Though I just realized the month is nearly over and there's some stuff I haven't even started on yet, so I'd better get on that...

5. I was home with the kitties all day and they were super cuties but somehow I didn't take any pictures. Luckily I have tons of backstock!

Summary: Sickly Kishida Jun has the ability to see ghosts, but in his opinion, it's a stupid power and nothing good ever comes of it. Considering the number of grisly situations he seems to find himself in after the ghost of his childhood friend Hayakawa Ryoko starts following him around, he may have a point.

Chapter Summary: In chapter 9, a serial killer's creepy dolls continue his dirty work after his death. In chapter 10, Mako enlists Kishida's help to discover her new employer's secret.

Chapter 9: The Puppeteer
Chapter 10: The Actress's Secret
torachan: tavros from homestuck dressed as pupa pan (pupa pan)
1. I got permission to place an ad on Craigslist for some positions we're hiring for and already got three replies right after the ad went up. Hopefully I'll get some more replies tomorrow and one or more of these people will work out.

2. Day off tomorrow! Wednesday is inventory, so Tuesday and Wednesday will be very hectic, so I'm looking forward to resting up tomorrow to be ready for that. :p

3. This cutie sleepy Jasper right here!

torachan: (Default)
1. I posted manga again!

2. These cuties were cuddling again.

torachan: two people embracing (is)
I know we've been really slow about putting out this series over the years, but thanks to everyone who's stuck with us. This is the final chapter of volume 16, which means there is just one more volume, five chapters left to go!

torachan: a cartoon kitten with a surprised/happy expression (chii)
1. It was nice to go in later today, not just because it meant more time to sleep in, but because it meant I didn't have to deal with the hassle of the morning delivery.

2. I'm so excited to have finally posted new Gunjo chapters! I'm working with someone new on the series now, so I'm really hoping we'll be able to keep to regular updates from now on.

3. This yawning kitty!

torachan: two women embracing (gunjo)
Guys, I am soooooooo sorry for the delay on this series! However, I have found a new cleaner/typesetter, so hopefully we can get back to regular posting. To make up for the long wait, I've got two new chapters today.

Chapter 23
Chapter 24
torachan: close-up of a sleepy kitten face (sleepy molly)
1. I might have to stay till closing tomorrow, but luckily I know ahead of time that it's a possibility, so I'm just going to go in later.

2. I got quite a bit of reading done today. I'm really pleased that I've been able to keep to my goal of reading almost every day lately. It's so easy to just faff about on the internet and then suddenly the time is gone.

3. I also got a lot of translating done, including finishing up another chapter of something, which means I now have four series that could come back from the typesetters within the next couple days. So hopefully I'll have some stuff to post this weekend!

4. All my kitties were so sweet today, but Molly came in to visit me at the computer quite a few times.
